Stoddards Celebrates 60 Years as a JET Authorised Distributor

A family business built on trust and loyalty marks a landmark anniversary with Phillips 66 Limited.

Stoddards Fuels is celebrating 60 years in business, and, in turn, 60 years as a JET Authorised Distributor. This story is rooted even earlier, when Judith’s grandfather began deliveries on a horse and cart before buying the business’s first truck in 1926. Always ready to take an opportunity, his entrepreneurial spirit set the tone for the family business that followed. The relationship with Phillips 66 began when the business, then already running gravel wagons, coaches and taxis, was approached to deliver fuel – a deal sealed on a handshake that has underpinned the relationship ever since. Stoddards will mark the milestone with current and former staff later this year, alongside a new website, an anniversary video and various commemorative items.

Judith Stoddard, Stoddards Fuels: “It doesn’t feel like 60 years – we’re still on the same site, and time has flown, even in my 30 short years. Our relationship with Phillips 66 goes right back to that handshake, and even though it’s different now, we still feel that that’s the same ethos today – trust both ways in the relationship. I’m proudest of our place in the local community: employing local people, sponsoring numerous local sports teams, events and venues, and chatting to customers at shows or out on the road all remind us how many families still choose us, generation after generation. Competing with much bigger companies isn’t easy, but our customers know Stoddards delivers, and Phillips 66’s backing has been a real comfort blanket throughout.”

Callum Guy, Senior Account Manager, Phillips 66 Limited: “Sixty years is a huge achievement, and Phillips 66 is proud to have been part of it. We really enjoy working with the Stoddards team, and that speaks to the strength of this relationship. Congratulations to Judith and the whole team – I look forward to continuing the relationship for many years to come.”
